Something to think over the weekends.If we’ve never experienced love before or so to speak, never been loved before, would we know what love is? It’s got me thinking, like hey, if we’ve never been loved before, would we discover this thing called love? Love is more than just emotions, more than just something that we ‘feel’ and its definitely more than what we know.
So what is this ‘love’ all about?
Love – noun
1. A strong feeling of affection.
“babies fill parents with intense feelings of love”
synonyms: deep affection, fondness, tenderness, warmth, intimacy, attachment, endearment, relationship, romance;
a strong feeling of affection and
sexual attraction for someone.
synonyms: besotted with, infatuated with, enamoured of, love-struck by, smitten with, passionate about, with a passion for, consumed with desire for;
2. A great interest and pleasure in something.
3. A person or thing that one loves.
“she was the love of his life”
synonyms: beloved, dear, dearest, dear one, darling, sweetheart, sweet, sweet one, angel;
Here’s how it goes, if our parents never first loved us, would we know what love is?
If God never first loved us, would we know what love is?
So how did God show His love to us?
-> By sending Jesus to die on the cross for us.
And that was the greatest love that we know.
Just imagine, a Father sending his son to die for people that doesn’t know who that man is. Perpetually a stranger giving his son up as a sacrifice to save mankind.
He sent Jesus to be a living sacrifice on the cross not just to show his love and affection for us but to reconcile mankind with Him, that we need not offer a sacrifice every month in the temple of Holy of Holies but yet we are able the experience the fullness of His love and His presence amongst men.
We can never fully grasp the concept of love and how it works and from the littlest things to the biggest things that He has placed over our life is all with love and how he shows His love to us daily is just amazing, is like I can never comprehend why He loves me after all I’ve said and done in the past hour, past few days etc. You get what I mean.
And sometimes, I wonder if there’s any ‘catch’ to this love. And the answer is always, No. I could never find any catch to this. His love is just that simple and pure. We need not earn His love to be loved. Every second, every minute, everyday, we are loved by Him. Even if I tried to doubt all of this, He still loves me.Everyday, He’s just knocking on the doors of your heart waiting for the day that you’ll let Him in.
